Octopus Energy powers Uber drivers with free EV chargers and cheaper charging

Octopus Energy, Uber, and BYD have teamed up to offer UK Uber drivers the cheapest EV charging bundle. Octopus Energy will install up to 1,000 free home chargers for drivers who buy BYD electric vehicles. Drivers can also enjoy cheaper charging with the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, making EV charging six times cheaper than petrol. With the free home charger and lower charging costs, it's 10 times cheaper for Uber drivers to run electric vehicles compared to petrol cars.

In addition, Uber drivers will get an 8% discount on Octopus Electroverse, a charging service that provides access to over 850,000 chargers worldwide. This partnership helps drivers switch to electric vehicles, saving money and reducing emissions. BYD, the world’s largest EV producer, provides affordable, high-tech cars for Uber drivers, supporting a cleaner, greener future for UK roads.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to make sustainable transport more affordable and accessible. It aligns with Uber’s commitment to accelerating the switch to electric vehicles and helping drivers save money while reducing their carbon footprint. The bundle launches on November 1, 2024.
