New Battery Energy Storage Facility Approved
Plans to build a new battery energy storage facility have been approved
Plans to build a new battery energy storage facility have been approved.
Net Zero Seventeen asked Cumberland Council for permission to build the facility on farmland at West Farm, near Aspatria, Cumbria.
The facility will store energy from renewable sources like wind and solar power. A spokesperson for the company said the project is "much needed" and will help improve the security of energy supply.
The facility will have around 20 green energy storage units, each about the size of a large truck container, with trees planted around the area for landscaping.
Alison Williams, a senior planning officer, said the proposed site was close to the power grid and that there was no reason to reject the plan. Many battery energy storage facilities have already been built across the UK.
This facility will be similar to the 50MW Battery Storage Facility EDF plan to install in Willington, Derbyshire.
