Healeys backs green ambitions with new solar panels
Healeys Printers has installed 95kW of solar panels on its factory roof as part of its "Road to Net Zero" plan. The Ipswich-based company aims to cut 90% of its CO2 emissions by 2035. The new solar panels will generate about 40% of the energy Healeys needs, saving around £30,000 annually on energy bills.
Along with solar panels, Healeys has installed LED lighting throughout its factories, reducing energy use by 75%, and has switched to an electric fleet of company cars.
In 2022, Healeys achieved its Science Based Target Initiatives (SBTIs) goal of reducing carbon emissions by 42% in just one year. This success encouraged the company to further reduce emissions and begin its net-zero journey.
The solar panel investment was supported by a £170,000 funding package from Lloyds Bank, part of their Clean Growth Finance Initiative. Healeys also invested in a Konica Minolta AccurioShine 3600 UV spot coater with iFoil hot foil stamping.
Philip Dodd, managing director of Healeys Printers, said the investment not only reduces the company's carbon footprint but also saves money, allowing further investment in the business and staff. Healeys, with a turnover of nearly £4 million, employs 34 staff specializing in short-run and fine art printing.
